Thursday - October 18, 2006

Hmmmm....I'm sleepy. The dogs were restless all night long. Maybe it's because a cool front blew in. They kept waking me up and the sheets were a mess. Bubba insists on burrowing under the sheets....not the covers, but the sheet on the futon. So, it's not unusual to wake up and have the sheets all off the corners and him hogging the sheet. Me, on a bare mattress waking up in a bad mood to see it's happened again.
Batman and Gomez almost had a fight. Batman thought he'd get the last "word" and after I helf Gomez out of reach of his little biting mouth, got nipped on my left elbow. Man, those little bites hurt like hell. I can see why Gomez just gets so mad. That Batman is a cabrĂ³n.
Work is slow today. I'll spend the bulk of it going in and out of my My Space account to see if I have any new "Friends". This has been such a hoot for me. I can count Willie Nelson, Madonna, Lindsey Buckingham, Moby, Aimee Mann, and other such cool people as my "friends".
It's my new toy.
The cool thing, too, is that I've made the acqaintance on-line of other struggling musicians like me from other parts of the world. It's like this global musician community. I like it. I feel ashamed to have said My Space is for losers in the past. I didn't know about this musicians thing they have going.
Well, I'll blog more later.... I guess I do have to do at least a little work. :-(

Rain

It did nothing but rain this weekend. I did stuff around the house and then was truly depressed by Sunday. Bored. I hate being trapped at home. I feel like I just don't have a life. Things will change.

Thank You for Smoking

Starring William H. Macy, Sam Elliott, Katie Holmes, and the leading guy whose name escapes me and others

Wry, sarcastic, caustic look at the pro-cigarette lobbyist world. Funny. You just want to spank all those sarcastic unbelievable ballsy lobbyists. Clever and verbose.

The Lakehouse

Starring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock

Sweet, romantic time-travel love affair. Just don't be smart and go along with the story to enjoy this movie. You'll ruin it if you try to figure out the true possibilities and why this just couldn't happen. I liked it.

Oh and the DIET

While I'm not on a strict diet because of my fluctuating blood sugars because of my meds and my preparation for the Byetta, I am watching what I eat and reading labels. Didja know a Honey Bun has 420 calories? Damn! A new discovery I made by way of my friend, Chuck was the Dipping Stix they sell at Walmart. They are chewy, tasty and low in calories. They also sell 1 serving salads for about $1. I mostly eat rotisseried chicken and veggies with corn tortillas with sugar-free Raspberry drink. I TRY to stay from sweets, but frankly, crave them something awful.

Sorry I haven't posted lately

Well, I've been busy, okay? Actually, I've been trying to keep up my energy. My doctor is trying to get me off of the insulin I've been on for a coupla years. I'm taking 2 new drugs and my bodies been adjusting to it all. In about 3 weeks, I start Byetta - med that is made from the venom of the Gila Monster! Get Out! No, really! It is. One side effect is weight loss, so right now, my main focus is in staying healthy as I make this transition that will take a few weeks and a total of 3 new meds. I'm scared and quietly, cautiously optimistic.
I am enjoying the My Space thing.

I've had fun going to the MySpace site of my favorite musicians and asking to be added as a friend. I don't have a life, ok? So, this is fun to me.

This weekend, I'm going to do a Fall housecleaning thing at the sea-shack. I hope to hook up my computers and hook my my little portable studio so that Maybe, Maybe, Maybe, this year, I'll get to record my Christmas song CD. It all depends on my strength. Another side affect of the Byetta is nausea. I don't do well with nausea and that's the part that scares me, tho, I must be strong. I am determined to get off the insulin. Determined and Bound.

So, that's about it. I'm in deep training with Gomez and Batman (who escaped the yard this morning and made me more late to work than I already was!). They are fighting less, tho, it's a hassle to rehabilitate those two! It's either that, or find Batman a home. It will work!

So, I'm gonna sign off here... I'll hopefully get those computers hooked up and can at least write-up my post and just upload it from now on.

Have a grand weekend.

Lucky # Slevin

Starring Bruce Willis, Josh Hartnett, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley

Wow... I picked this up on a whim. I don't recall this playing at the theaters and thought it went straight to vid. Really enjoyed this film. It kept me guessing. Lucy Liu's character was likeable in contrast to the predatory females she usually plays. Bruce Willis was well, Bruce Willis as an international asassin (sp?). Josh Hartnet was likeable and kept me guessing until the end when it all (of course) comes together. Ben Kingsley and Morgan Freeman play mobster competitors. It's worth a watch. I'd watch it again so that I can see how it comes together all over again.

Capote

Starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman

Very good! I loved this movie. It's like I could just read what was on his mind as he was thinking. And was playing a role! He deserved that Oscar. I really enjoyed this movie. He didn't over do the "flamer" aspect of his personality so that it was a parody and not a portrayal.
